To Our Patients,

We understand and deeply respect that you may be concerned about coronavirus in public places, even at our state-of-the-art sterilized office.

Our first priority is always the health and well-being of our patients. And that is a priority we take extremely seriously, even with the current disruptions we’re all experiencing.

It has been a very difficult decision, but we have decided that it is in the best interest of our community, our team, and our patients that we not see regular patients until at least Monday, April 6, 2020.

If you do have a dental emergency, we are here and will be here and happy to help you. Please call us at 603-546-7460.

This is just one more way that we can show our high level of care for you … and for everyone in our community. We very much look forward to seeing you, your family, and your friends very soon.

As always, if you have any questions, please call our office at 603-546-7460.

Sincerely,
Dr. James Kiehl

Get A Comfortable & Effective Custom Athletic Mouthguard

April 13, 2018
Now Is The Time For Athletic Mouthguards For Summer | Nashua Family Dentistry

Sports are a great way to get your heart pumping and they also fit in well with a healthy lifestyle, but they can also put you at risk of injuries, including dental injuries. If you want to do all you can to keep your smile protected while you’re getting active, call Nashua Family Dentistry at 603-546-7460 today and book a fitting for a custom athletic mouthguard.

At our Nashua, NH dentist office, we offer the various general dentistry treatment options you expect from a dentist and we also create mouthguards that are made specifically for your mouth. We can also customize your mouthguard for the particular physical activity you enjoy most.

For example, if you play football or some other high-contact sport, we can give you a guard that protects both your upper and lower teeth. Or, if your sport doesn’t have such a high risk of dental injury, we may make one that is comparatively thinner that only goes over your upper teeth. With our help, you may be able to:

  • Avoid a dental emergency situation
  • Protect your teeth from damage or even from getting knocked out
  • Save yourself time and money in the future since you won’t have to pay for expensive restorative dentistry treatments to repair a damaged smile
  • Keep your smile whole and looking great

To make covering the cost of your mouthguard a little more easy to manage, we accept a large variety of payment options. We even take third-party financing from companies like CareCredit, Lending Club, and Compassionate Finance. We’ll help you determine the payment method that makes the most sense for you.

For your convenience, we also open for appointments a little earlier than nine-to-five dentists. You can visit us starting at 8:00 a.m. every weekday!

Keep Your Gorgeous Grin Safe With A Custom Athletic Mouthguard

April is National Facial Protection Month, so we’re doing our best to spread the word about the importance of avoiding a dental injury even more than we usually do.

Unlike some awareness campaigns that are somewhat arbitrarily scheduled, National Facial Protection Month is recognized in April for a very specific reason. Because April is near the beginning of spring, there’s typically a significant uptick in dental and head injuries because people start playing spring sports and doing other physical activities where injuries are common.

While we will definitely help you if you have a dental injury, we actually want to help you avoid visiting our Nashua, NH dentist office for emergency dentistry as much as we possibly can. We care about your comfort and happiness and also your smile.

Depending on the physical activities you like participating in, you may not think that you need a mouthguard for physical activities. But if there’s a decent chance that you could get hit in the face or otherwise cause some damage to your smile, you should probably consider getting a mouthguard. It would be a lot more affordable to spend a little money now on a guard instead of shelling out big bucks later on to repair your smile.

Mouthguards are not just for football and boxing. If your favorite physical activity involves any of the following, you should probably consider getting one:

  • Frequent changes of direction
  • Throwing and/or catching flying objects
  • Lots of jumping

We’ve provided mouthguards for people for a large variety of sports and activities, including:

  • Baseball and softball
  • Soccer
  • Gymnastics
  • Tennis
  • Racketball
  • Extreme sports like skateboarding
  • Skiing
  • Cheerleading

You may also be wondering if you really need to get a custom mouthguard when you could pick one up at your local sporting goods store. Well, to put it simply, you get what you pay for when you purchase a mouthguard.

A custom version will fit your mouth very comfortably and be much more effective than a store-bought option. It will also offer various other perks compared to store-bought models because it will be:

  • Specifically designed to offer the optimum level of protection required for your favorite sport or activity
  • Extremely durable and made from tough materials
  • Precisely fitted to your smile so it will comfortably take up just the right amount of space in your mouth

In contrast, boil-and-bite mouthguards are not made from as durable material as custom options are because they have to be weak enough to soften in hot water so you can form-fit it to your teeth. This also makes them more prone to wear. Many patients we’ve seen that have used boil-and-bite models often wear holes in them after a period of time.

One-size-fits-all mouthguards also have their fair share of shortcomings compared to our custom options. For one thing, nothing that claims to be one-size-fits-all never lives up to that name.

A lot of people find one-size-fits-all versions uncomfortable and even deal with minor gagging problems. Others attempt to fix this issue by cutting off a small amount of the mouthguard that would normally sit near the back of their mouth. Sometimes this can make things worse in terms of comfort and effectiveness.

All sorts of accidents can happen when you are playing a sport. While you can’t anticipate the unexpected, you can do your best to be prepared for it and protect yourself accordingly. Just like you use a helmet or some other piece of protective equipment when you’re playing some sports, you should also protect your teeth.

To help determine your specific needs, we will provide a private consultation if you’re interested in getting a mouthguard. We’ll ask about the sorts of physical activities you participate in and answer any questions that you have as well. We want to do all we can to help you avoid a dental injury this spring or any other time of the year.

To book your initial appointment and take the first step to getting a custom athletic mouthguard, call Nashua Family Dentistry at 603-546-7460 today. You can also swing by our conveniently located Nashua, NH dentist office during our normal business hours or use our simple online form to schedule or submit a question at any time. We can’t wait to help you!

An amazing dentist, with a staff full of people who genuinely care about you. My most recent experience, I forgot to have a very important form filled out (requirement for those in the NG) and they went through HOOPS to get my form filled out and returned to me. I can’t recommend them enough!
