Safeguarding Your Smile With Dental Implants

Dental Implants | Nashua Family Dentistry

Spring is a time of change. I love watching New Hampshire shed the frost of its Winter slumber as it embraces the renewal of Springtime.

With warmer weather comes warm weather activities, and while there is plenty of hiking, camping, fishing, and old fashioned cloud gazing ahead of us, it’s also a time to embark on those outdoor seasonal chores that we’ rather just leave behind. It’s important to clean up after Winter’s worst so that we can meet Spring with our best foot forward, whether we like or not.

One of those chores that you’ve been dreading is taking care of that so-called “problem” tooth. You know the one I’m talking about, don’t you? It’s the one that throbs off and on; the one you avoid chewing with; the one you wish would just stop being a nuisance and let you get on with your life.

Or maybe your problem tooth has some friends, and is slowly converting your smile into a gang of problems, one tooth at a time. At some point, either soon or in the not-so-distant future, your smile will reach a tipping point where all of the neglect will come to a head. When that happens, the result will be a dental catastrophe that is more painful (and more expensive) than any you’ve faced so far.

And let’s be honest: It’s not like you haven’t suffered through your fair share of oral health problems in the past; if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be here. Yet if you continue to let those smile chores pile up without addressing them at all, your call to my office could be one you’ll wish that you never had to make.

Before it gets to that ridiculous – and ridiculously painful – point, there is another type of call you can make with your Nashua dentist, and that is to receive a dental implant (or series of dental implants). Doing so will safeguard your smile against future harm while adding the possibility of greater cosmetic enhancement. Failing to do so will all but ensure that your smile falls victim to oral disease or even injury.

With Spring right around the corner, you can’t afford to make the wrong choice.

How Implants Add Security To Your Smile

There are a lot of factors that can lead to a tooth or number of teeth being so damaged or rotted that they can no longer function in the way that they should. When this happens, there can be little value in saving the tooth, especially if a root canal is not enough to treat the damaged nerves, pulp, and root of the tooth itself.

Removing the tooth is the best option in cases like that, which can be devastating to your self-esteem and ruin the appearance of your smile if the tooth in question is a prominent one. The embarrassment of a missing front tooth can be too much to put up with, and you don’t deserve it.

A high-quality dental implant can quite literally lay the foundation of a healthy artificial tooth that, in the hands of a skilled dentist like me, will be even better than your natural teeth!

It works by installing a titanium-based implant into the gum line itself. Don’t worry about pain, because you’ll be comfortably numbed during the entire procedure. Once that’s done, the hard part is over!

The next step will be to determine how to best replicate your natural smile. In many cases, a porcelain crown or bridge (which we’ll discussing in my next blog post) can be easily installed over your new dental implant that will totally transform your smile to amazing new heights! You’ll be able to eat and smile again with the ease that you remember.

In other words, your new dental implant is the basis upon which you can have the smile you have always wished for. A world of possibilities will open up for your smile, just like the blooms of our beautiful New Hampshire Spring.

But you must reach out and take that treatment, otherwise the quality and appearance of your smile will continue to slide further and further downward until there’s nothing left.
