We also open a little earlier than most dental offices do, providing appointments as early as 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. This way, you may be able to bring your kids in for a dental visit before you have to drop them off at school.
Learn Some NCDHM History & The General Dentistry We Offer
NCDHM is meant to promote the importance and benefits of establishing and maintaining good oral health habits and keeping regular dental visits from a young age. The mission of the NCDHM is to give kids a good start on a lifetime of great oral health.
The awareness campaign of NCDHM started in Cleveland, OH as a one-day event back in 1941 on February 3rd. Eight years later, the American Dental Association (ADA) elevated the celebration to national observance. The program then extended into a week-long event in 1955 and then a month-long observance by 1981, when it became officially recognized as the NCDHM we know today.
Today, the messages of NCDHM are shared to thousands of people across the country, as well as at many armed services bases. NCDHM is celebrated and promoted in various ways, including through the use of:
- Fun informational posters provided by the ADA
- Coloring and essay contests
- Health fairs
- Museum exhibits
- Classroom presentations by members of the dental field
Dental professionals, teachers, and parents can all access free online resources during (and before and after) NCDHM to assist you in:
- Putting on oral health presentations
- Generating ideas for the classroom
- Finding great activities and handouts
The ADA catalog also makes various materials available for purchase, including booklets and videos.
At Nashua Family Dentistry, we make NCDHM a year-round event by providing all the general dentistry services your kiddos need. We love working with children and will do everything we can to help you get some peace of mind regarding your little one’s oral health.
If your child is of a certain age and hasn’t yet seen a dentist, bring them to our Nashua, NH dentist office soon. Not only will we provide a thorough cleaning, we will also:
- Thoroughly examine their mouth
- Check for signs of oral health problems
- Treat any issues we find as quickly as possible so the concern is still small and easily manageable
We can also help your child develop great oral hygiene habits and techniques. We can demonstrate proper brushing and flossing and even suggest ways to make oral hygiene habits fun. For example, you can play one of your child’s favorite songs for two minutes to make sure they brush their teeth for the right amount of time.
We also provide a few preventive treatment options to help your kids avoid dental problems. Your kiddo could even avoid a cavity or other issue thanks to:
- Dental sealants that help protect teeth from bad bacteria and tooth decay
- Fluoride treatments and varnishes that help to strengthen teeth
- Nutritional counseling, so your little one can understand the connection between what they eat and the health of their mouth and smile
To ensure your child is as comfortable as possible while they’re in our care, our friendly team can provide a few comfort options. For example, we offer pillows, blankets, and TVs so your kid can cozy up while we work.
